Young Voices combines the power of singing together as one, with accompaniment from a wide range of musicians and artists, to create an amazing performance. Believe, written by Lin Marsh, is a song for dreamers of all ages but it is probably children who are most able to allow their hopes and expectations guide them. Children who are least fettered by reality and untainted by cynicism. Children who talk of being astronauts or train drivers and see both as being exciting and attainable in equal measure. To set a goal and strive for it. To hope, to dream, and to achieve. We all face times of difficulty and anguish but a belief in a better tomorrow and a knowledge that the sun shines still behind the clouds helps us to weather all life's storms. This short film shows the first ever performance of Lin Marsh's 'We Are the Children of the World' at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford. The composition was commissioned by Creative Multilingualism, an AHRC research programme led by the University of Oxford, to celebrate the many languages spoken in the UK's schools and communities. It also highlights the creative potential of linguistic diversity. The concert, involving 500 local school children, was organised in partnership with the Oxford Festival of Arts.
